Pyrmont Progress has been set up by local Pyrmont people who want to help create and fulfil a vision for Pyrmont.

Our mission is:

“To make Pyrmont a more attractive place to live work and visit.”

For too long various statutory bodies have been developing and implementing their plans for Pyrmont in an uncoordinated way, and with too little regard for the impact of those plans on the local community. The results of their efforts such as intense over development, traffic and parking problems and a lack of usable open space for a variety of community uses, are plainly visible.

Pyrmont is on the threshold of being either a residential, uninteresting dormitory suburb, or a great place to live, work and visit.

The Pyrmont Progress aim is to create a modern neighbourhood village with a properly planned strategy, which has the support of the community.

The objectives of Pyrmont Progress Inc. are:
 

To facilitate responsibly and holistically, the planning and development of Pyrmont to ensure that Pyrmont is transformed into a modern village, respecting its colourful industrial and residential past, where people can live, work and carry on trade in a harmonious and complete environment, encompassing the broad demographic of society.

To encourage visitors to the precinct, and encourage supporting events of cultural and economic importance.

Harnessing knowledge, passion and enthusiasm of the community to develop Pyrmont as the place where the Community wants to live, work and visit.

To act proactively in a liaison capacity between the stakeholders of Pyrmont and government agencies to ensure Pyrmont is developed responsibly and holistically from its present state to one of a village that supports and fosters the needs, interests and desires of its residents and local businesses.
